Sika’s PE branch celebrated the launch of its new premises in May 2013 with a festive event, attracting a sell out crowd of nearly 150 guests. The Port Elizabeth branch services the region spanning George to Middelburg to East London. Having outgrown their old premises after ten years, Sika PE is now situated at 226 Commercial Road, Sidwell, Centrahill. The larger property will ensure there is space for Sika’s increased stock levels, with warehousing space augmented from 380m2 to 1000m2 (100 pallet spaces to 250 pallet spaces), thereby also reducing logistics costs. Offloading the 24-ton truckloads from NDC (Sika Head Office warehouse) every week is faster, now that a forklift is able to offload from both sides, without turning the truck around inside the vast yard. There is also additional safe and secure parking available for clients and staff (500m2).

Of significant benefit is the visibility of these new premises to passing traffic as they face the N2 and the busy R72 (to Uitenhage), already resulting in increased walk in trade. Bold Sika signs erected on the buildings can be clearly identified, creating further brand awareness. Future plans for the new premises include: transporting imported stock via Coega Port; installing a cold room for the storage of automotive stock; and building a dock leveller for offloading of containers.

At the opening, Sika PE Branch manager, Jean le Roux, welcomed guests and introduced the P.E Staff before handing over and introducing Paul Adams, MD Sika South Africa. Thereafter, Paul Adams presented an overview of Sika Globally and Nationally and explained the company’s global change from Business Units to Target Markets. He also gave an overview of the new Sika premises in South Africa and invited everyone to enjoy the drinks and the networking. Prizes were won by: Justin Scott (William Scott Contracting), Sean Tinley (Ibhayi Contracting), Stefan Smith (Form Scaff), and Trevor van Blerk (Pennypinchers).
