When Peter Baxter Panel Beaters and Spray Painters, based in Pietermaritzburg, found their floors looking tired, they contacted Sika. The existing floors consisted of the Sikafloor-261 system, laid several years previously, but, as the floors at most panel beaters undergo vigorous wear and tear due to excessive vehicular movement and heavy equipment passing over them, theirs were in need of rejuvenation.

After contacting Mervyn Naidoo, Sika KZN Regional Branch Manager, and the chosen applicator Westside Trading, it was recommended that the same floor system be laid. Sikafloor 261 is a solvent free, epoxy resin based floor coating. It is a two part self-levelling epoxy used for the production of screeds, coatings and layers on concrete and cement screeds with normal to medium heavy wear, such as storage, assembly halls, maintenance workshops, garages and loading ramps.

Westside Trading prepared the1500m² floor, by diamond grinding it, then wiping and cleaning with Sika Colmar Cleaner. Following this, the first layer of Sikafloor 261 was applied and once dry, a second coat was applied. Peter Baxter Panel Beaters are delighted with their shiny-new, professionally applied floors, sufficiently robust for years of wear and tear!
