Sika’s KZN sales team hosted a fantastic roadshow in Newcastle at the Majuba Lodge on the 9th of April 2019.

Sika is well known in the greater Durban area and other major centres, however there are some outlying areas that we want to focus on. Sika’s Mervyn Naidoo, KZN Branch Manager, decided on Newcastle to create Sika brand awareness and expand our footprint.

Despite the fact that Newcastle is a relatively small town, the turnout was impressive, especially considering that it was an evening event, and most attendees had just finished their day at work. Contractors, block manufacturers, hardware store members and individuals from the automotive industry were some of the people in attendance.

The evening started with an introduction of what Sika is about, and the various applications where Sika products can be used. The visitors then networked along the 4 tables set up per application field to allow them to ask questions, learn about new products, and to handle and use the products themselves.

One of the many highlights that evening was the live demonstrations of three of Sika’s well-known products in the market. SikaPower® -2900, a vehicle bumper repair kit, was applied to a pre-prepared bumper to show the ease of application and time-saving advantages of our system. The next demonstration showcased Sikalastic® -560, a premium liquid applied waterproofing system based on Sika Co-Elastic technology. Then, last but certainly not least, a demonstration showing the application of Sika BlackSeal® Torch-On, bitumen sheet waterproofing membrane. Westside Trading were called upon as our approved applicators to perform this demonstration using a gas flame with their heat torch equipment. Special care was taken to demonstrate the correct seal of the overlapping joints to ensure that no leaks occur.

The evening was an all-round hit with our visitors, who were also treated to snack platters, a lucky draw and giveaways. The interest shown in our range of solutions was excellent, with attendees paying particular attention to the demonstrations. The networking opportunity benefitted all who attended and the overall opinion of the event was that it was exceptionally successful and worthwhile. Thank you, Newcastle!
