Sika® Separol®-3021 WB

(former MasterFinish® 3021WB)

High performance vegetable-based emulsion mould release agent

Sika® Separol®-3021 WB is a multi-purpose vegetable-based water emulsified release agent. Unlike other products this emulsion separates upon contact with the mould surface and the oil component is released and deposited on the mould surface whilst the water component runs off or evaporates, thus the emulsion breaks down, leaving behind an very thin deposited oil film, which releases cast concrete perfectly.

  • Minimises pin- or bug-holes.

  • Will not be absorbed by polyurethane rubber moulds (long exposure to mineral oils can cause dimension changes and softening causing moulds to tear when demoulding).

Usage

Sika® Separol®-3021 WB may be used for all general applications and is especially reliable for achieving high quality off-shutter finishes and effectively minimises pin- or bug-holes. Sika® Separol®-3021 WB is suitable for use various moulds including steel, polyurethane and silicone rubber, acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), fibre-reinforced plastic composites (FRP), polypropylene and polyethylene (PE). Sika® Separol®-3021 WB is not recommended for use on latex rubber.   The use of specific mould releasing agents should with specific moulds should always be determined by site trials. Oils should typically not be used on rubber or certain plastic moulds. Waxes are especially suited for non-absorbing shutters as a base preparation and chemical sensitive moulding materials such as certain plastic and rubber. Shelf Life

Shelf life of 5 years from date of manufacture when stored in undamaged, unopened packaging.

Storage Conditions

Store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperatures. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging.

Specific Advice

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Adhering to storage requirements, it is recommended the product is agitated by shaking or stirring before use.

Apply before the first casting and thereafter reapply immediately after stripping and cleaning the mould.

May be sprayed, dipped, brushed or ragged onto the mould surface to deposit a thin film of the release oil. Lightweight horticultural sprayers are ideal as Sika® Separol®-3021 WB is finely atomized to give a uniform coating. When spray applied, a fine film of milky droplets should be visible on the mould surface. The oil quickly separates from the emulsion and is deposited on the mould.

Water droplets may be wiped off or left to evaporate, but concrete may also be cast before the water has evaporated. It has been found that tipping of the mould to let the separated water run away yields good results. Site trials recommended to determine the ideal application for site specific moulds and conditions.Coverage should be as thin a layer as possible, but cover 100% of mould surface. Excessive application should be avoided.

Alternatively, application may be made by a fine haired brush, only a very thin coating should be made and any excess removed.
