Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80

Water reducing plasticizer to produce low slump-loss flowable concrete

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 is a water reducing, plasticisingadmixture for the production of low slump loss, high workability concrete. Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 is formulated for use over a widedosage range. Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 can match theperformance characteristics of many superplasticisers at a lower dosage and cost. At the lower end of the dosage range Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 will substantially increase andextend workability at a given water cement ratio. Alternatively, the water cement ratio can be reduced whilst maintaining a given slump. The water reduction capability, slump and extension of workability, increase with dosage. At higher dosage rates, Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 will enable water reductionsand the production of flowing concrete normally only available from superplasticisers.

Usage

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 is formulated for use bycommercial ready-mix operators, who can benefit from its multiple role characteristics by minimising admixture stock. Used to reduce the water cement ratio, Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 will improve all the desirable performancecharacteristics of hardened concrete: higher compressive strength and modulus; lower permeability, shrinkage, and creep.

Shelf Life

12 months from date of manufacture, if stored correctly.

Storage Conditions

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 must be stored in a place where the temperature does not drop below +5°C. If product has frozen, thaw by increasing at 3°C increments and agitate until completely reconstituted. Store closed container, under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging.

Compatibility

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 is compatible with all types ofPortland cement including SRC and modified, Type ll. For use with other special cement types or blends contact your Sika Technical representative for advice.

Application Information

Dispensing

Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 is introduced into the mixer withthe mixing water. The admixture works more efficiently if it is added to the dampened mix after 50-70% of the water has been introduced. No extension to normal mixing time is necessary. Sika® Plastiment® PZ 80 shouldnever be added to any dry materials.
Consumption

Recommended Dosage

The normal range is 0.25-0.55 litre / 100 kg cement. Higher dosages may be required when certain combinations of materials and conditions are present or water reduction in excess of 15% is required. In all cases, trial mixes should be carried out to determine the optimum dosage required to achieve the desired concrete properties.
