Sika has a wide range of adhesive and sealants for your DIY home improvements.

Movement & Expansion Joint Sealants

Despite the fact that joint sealants are only a very small part of the overall cost of a construction project, they play an absolutely crucial part in keeping a building air and watertight, in order to prevent serious damage and a loss of thermal insulation. The right joint sealant selection is also critical to maintain this function over the whole service life of the structure.

Within a construction project there are many different types of joints that require efficient watertight sealing, including all of the isolation, sanitary, construction and movement or expansion joints in the facade and throughout the structure.

Polyurethane sealant is exceptionally versatile, durable, flexible, adaptable, and resilient

Sika’s popular polyurethane sealant products are used to seal joints that can be found in most rooms in your home. It helps seal surfaces and helps protect both hard and soft surfaces from corrosion and UV damage. At Sika, our polyurethane product is unique in that we use state-of-the-art technology in our Sikaflex brand, which was produced over 50 years ago. Sikaflex-11 FC+ is a one-component advanced polyurethane sealant and adhesive with durable elastic movement capability and very low VOC, making it suitable for anywhere in your home.

Sanitary Joint Sealant

Sealing – is one of the most important jobs in waterproofing your bathroom or kitchen.

A well-sealed bathroom and kitchen prevents mould, leaks and water damage to your cabinets.

Sanisil® is a flexible, anti-fungal, moisture-curing silicone sealant suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.

Silicones are often filled with fillers to make them cheaper and the result of this is that they shrink when exposed to heat, as in a bathroom or shower. Cheaper silicones also do not always have good fungal inhibitor properties and end up going black fairly quickly. Benefits of Sanisil® is the long term fungus and mildew resistance.

Ask for Sika® Sanisil® if you are looking for an antifungal sealant for sanitary applications.

When sealing surfaces in your bathroom, opting for an antifungal sealant is the best choice. Sika offers Sika® Sanisil® as a premium quality, antifungal sealant that works quickly and effectively, with high elasticity and flexibility.

Acrylic Joint Sealant

Sikacryl® S is a one-component, acrylic joint sealant for internal minor movement joints and interior and exterior crack filling. Quick drying and over-paintable sealant with good application properties.

Elastic Adhesives

Why do elastic adhesives lead to a more powerful bond compared to mechanical fixing around the house?

You may have heard that elastic adhesives can create more powerful bonds than mechanical ones. So, why is this?

Well, the first reason is that elastic adhesives have a widely distributed adhesive surface, allowing the load to be distributed.

Mechanical fixing can penetrate into the object but using elastic adhesives means that you use fewer tools, cleaning up is much easier, and there is no initial fixing - no more nails. With mechanical fixing, you risk damaging the object and the nails corroding over time.

In contrast, elastic adhesives do not damage the object and allow you to create an adhesive surface, even on uneven surfaces. Using elastic adhesives also ensures that there is no humidity between objects.

Sika’s Elastic Adhesives

Sika elastic adhesive bonding technology has produced a wide range of adhesive solutions with products and systems that can also accommodate vibration and thermal movement from different materials and substrates.
